Stolen

I remembered as a child playing with this massive silver cuff of my mom's, and when I came back this trip, I made sure it was coming back with me to NYC. Obvi this piece won't be worn until the summer time...but it's so hippie chic and bad ass it will be a great accessory with all my whimsy dresses. And no, I don't intend to shine it up...I love my stuff tarnished and used, a sign of love. And of course, when I put it on...it isn't quite as big as I remembered, but it will do. xo, B

Vintage

Went through a bunch of albums while I've been home...this is what prompted my new years resolution to take more pictures. They are mostly of when my parents first got married, and when my older brother was a baby...the second child always get lost in the shuffle! lol A lot has changed since these photos have been taken, it just reminds me of how fast life keeps passing me by! 2009 came and went so quickly, I really want to enjoy everything and everyone around me, and focus on what is important in life...family and friends. These pictures are moments in time that are all so beautiful, I had to post them. xo, B

Kind of reminds me of Gidget!

My grandma getting her hair did! Love it...so beautiful.

Style Gangsta

Every so often I check out the international Vogue websites, and Vogue Nippon had this sick image of Carine Roitfeld, discussing her jewelry. I have no idea what they are saying about it, because honestly, I don't find her jewelry anything mentionable, but Carine always has this attitude that I love her for. She always seems like such a hard core bitch, and she is so stylish even at her age...not that she's old, but she's been around. She's definitely someone who inspires me, this tough chick in this pretty fashion world...love it, B

Vintage Carine...just for shits and giggles...she looks almost innocent!

New Years Eats pt 2

New Years day always consists of my mom slaving over the kitchen to make our traditional Japanese New Years meal. I wasn't much help, I rolled a couple sushi rolls...but that's about it! This meal was amazing as always...and it reminded me of how important it is to keep tradition alive and going. In typical Japanese fashion, every dish has a meaning...really cool when you think about it. Love, B

Ozoni - mochi soup is for strength and prosperity.

Basic takuan sushi (pickled daikon radish) which I helped with, and my mom's version of futomaki sushi with unagi added.

Nishime - Veggie stew with chicken, consisting of lotus roots, potatoes, carrots, shitaki mushrooms, fish cake, bamboo shoots, and konnyaku. My fave!

Renkon - lotus root sliced crosswise, as a symbol of the wheel of life. Isn't it cool looking...these are delish!

Cucumber salad

Kuromame - black beans with chestnuts, for good health and success.

My brother and I hated these black beans growing up, so we used to say we had to eat our age in beans, back then it obviously worked to our advantage...but not anymore! ha

Of course, every New Years needs some bubbly...this isn't Japanese tradition, but you can say it's new school tradition! lol

New Years Eats - Buckwheat Noodles

Traditionally the buckwheat noodles are meant to be eaten at midnight to welcome the New Year. Well...I was a little tired and full from my last meal on New Years Eve, so we ended up eating our soba for breakfast. These thin long noodles symbolize longevity...so here's to a long happy life! xo, B

Tight End

Obesessed, these tights are rad...and they're not that badly priced and an easy way to spruce up an outfit. Anthropologie is selling them now...so cute, kind of like the Marc by MJ Fall 2009 ones. Wow, 2009 seems like so last year...ha! xo, B

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2010. I thought about adding to my list, "filter my potty mouth," but nah...that wouldn't be fun! lol...See you in the New Year! xo, B
