NY Bucket List - AMNH, check!

First item checked off our bucket list was the American Museum of Natural History!  It was supposed to rain all day and to prepare for our commute in the rain makes everything more difficult.  Not only did I have to learn to stuff my bugaboo with the proper daily essentials for this little chica, but now I have to make sure I'm prepared for a rainstorm.  I definitely won't miss getting caught in rainstorms while trying to hail a cab with the baby and all.  There's one thing to look forward to with suburban life.

The museum was crowded with tourists and children out of school for the summer.  My lil lulu was quite fascinated by all the animals and dinosaur fossils, and it makes me sad to think she won't even remember these New York moments.

One item down, and many more to go!  The remaining items on my NYC bucket list are as follows, in no particular order:

1. Peter Luger
2. BONDST sushi
3. Hotel Chantelle brunch
4. Momofuku Noodle Bar or Ippudo for ramen and pork buns!
5. Dinosaur BBQ (I've wanted to go here since I moved to the city)
6. Cafe Gitane
7. Parisi Sandwich
8. Hybird
9. Central Park Carousel & Zoo
10. FAO Schwartz
11. MOMA
12. Met
13. Staten Island Ferry
14. Statue of Liberty
15. Walk the Brooklyn bridge
16. World Trade Memorial

Wish me luck, we are at T minus 18 days!  Awww, now I'm starting to get sad....til next time. xo, B

The normal grind of carrying the stroller down the subway stairs.  Power to the mamas out there that can barrel up and down the stairs holding the stroller and kid in all.

She loves people watching on the subway...so do I!

It's About to Go Down...

If you look close enough, you can see my hubby and lulu walking across Times Square

Ok ok ok...It's going on almost two years since my last post!  I know it's probably like, whoa, why come back now?  Well, it's bitter sweet, but it has come time for me to leave this concrete jungle that I have called home for the past decade.  Obviously change is constant, but my life has pretty much given me whip lash with all that has happened in two years.

I've loved every New York minute, and I truly believe that it has kept me and everyone here feeling young.  With the continuous evolution of all the restaurants, bars and shopping, the only way to keep up with the city is to accept and transform with it.  Kill or be killed.  When I moved here back in 2003(!) I was a baby fresh out of college trying to find my way into the fashion industry.  It was so glitter and glam looking in from the outside, but hindsight is 20/20.  I've learned to deal with the colorful people that are the fashion industry while getting put in check quite a few times.  But, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.  Ok, enough of these played out metaphors.  Yeah, I had to learn to shove my way onto the packed subways, while making no eye contact with the person standing so close that I can smell their breath.  Learning to be loud and assertive ordering a deli sandwich at the bodega, because believe me, the guy behind the counter won't wait for you to make up your mind or ask questions.  So yeah, after a decade of living here, New York has engrained amplified social and professional skills in me that make living outside of NYC seem easy breezy.

So what all has changed...?  I found out I was pregnant, pretty much right after my last Moda Suki post.  My then boyfriend of almost 7 years proposed and we got married, and the perfect curly haired baby girl came the Summer of 2012.  So, right now, I am trying to pack up my life for our upcoming move to California, the OC!  It's officially T minus 22 days and I'm putting together my bucket list for all that I want to eat, see and buy, all while planning my lil' lulu's 1st birthday.  And what better way to share it all than to blog it like the good ol' days.

Go Blue!

Life has finally slowed for a hot sec for me to actually surf the blogosphere. As I was catching up, I found this awesome pic from the Sartorialist...so Michigan chic! I totes am getting a tank from Moe's asap and rocking it! If you don't know, now you know...GO BLUE! xo, B

Mr. B

I'm sweating these cool oxfords I found out at... Aldo! Cray I know...not my normal steez, but the leather is really nice, and I just went on a lunch date with them. They are Aldo's Mr. B collection...not really sure what that means. But, the construction is solid, but they were a tad big, and they didn't have my size. I'm debating on hoofing it to 34th street after work to scoop up these bad boys. My obsession is ridic when I have my mind made up...I can't even wait to order them online...I NEED them now! ha To be continued...xo, B

Memories

Random, YES...Totally practical and cool, OBVI! Just perusing the O site, and found this old article done on interior designer Peri Wolfman. She divulges her organizational secrets...nothing amaze, but completely chic. It was one of my new years resolutions to frame and take more pics...and this is a fab way to do it! It's all about the memories...xo, B

(oh yeah, and I missed you guys...mwah!!)

LA Prepster

The pic is not so great, but wanted to throw up my lunchtime purchases. I stopped by Uniqlo, which has become a place I frequent less and less these days...I think I overdosed on them for a bit. I found this great sweater jacket with awesome texture and gold buttons, a bit Chanel wannabe, and thought it would be great with my new thin tee from Brandy Melville. Can't wait to rock it out with some great dark denim flares! xo, B
My new gym tee from Brandy Melville...yes a little cheapie store, but love the fit...I'm def going to wear it out too, duh.

Love how tissue this it is!

Uniqlo wannabe Chanel sweater, great Springtime staple.

Great high waisted flares for summer by MiH found on Shopbop.
